Summer 2008

When will the rain stop.

August is drawing to a close when will the sun shine? As we wait patiently the grass grows up through the hay waiting for sunshine to turn it crisp, the oil seed rape is ready but soggy and barley half cut the joys of farming life.

We managed get the shearing done in one day this year and the wool off farm and gone to the wool board. Lambs are growing fast and will be spained soon if it dries up enough to get them into the pens. We have only 2 cows left to calf and the others are doing well.
If any of you out there know of a rain dance that’s stops it raining do us all a good turn and perform it please.

We have been working on a new liqueur: Yellow Raspberry Vodka,( Liquid Gold)
I experimented with it in 2006 and was received well by some of my B & B people so last year managed to persuade Sister Joan to part with all hers enough to make 5 Litres which we will launch at Glendale Show on Bank Holiday Monday. We only have 250ml bottles and a limited quantity. If you would like a taste we are in the Food Marque and at Linden Hall for the Journal Taste II on Saturday 30th August

If any one has any yellow raspberries or knows where I can get some please let me know. I have planted canes but I think the frost got them as they have not done very well!!
